Happy Chinese New Year!
The Chinese New Year came in over this past weekend...the 16th of the month.
This year is the year of the Earth Dog and its characteristic word is...Go get it! Action!
It will be a good time for lifestyle changes and even for the start of new business ventures.
The Chinese Horoscope 2018 predicts that this year of the Earth Dog is going to be a good year in all respects, but it will also be an exhausting year.
You will be happy yet frustrated, rested yet tired, cheerful yet dull!
The primary element of the sign of the Dog is the Earth element, followed by the elemental forces of Fire and Metal.
Earth is all about grounding, taking care of our bodies and Mother Earth as well. It’s also about our money and abundance.
The creative cycle of Fire and Metal brings transformation.
So there will be a creative force of energy for money which can come to those who work with the qualities of honesty, loyalty, and fairness in their dealings.
We will see that actions based solely on personal drive are uncovered and rejected by the majority, giving way during this period to the more universal values of compassion, empathy, and social justice.
This brings us to our episode today and building a community with compassion through the work of Annie Damsky and Emilie Maynor with The Fearless Om Festival.
Emilie Maynor is a Wellness Coach and Yoga Instructor working with individual clients and corporations to live healthy, mindful lives with ease.
Emilie's yoga journey began nearly 10 years ago when she discovered the powerful impact of self-study and awareness. In 2009, she completed her 200 Hour certification through Birmingham Yoga. Emilie's education continued as yoga concepts overflowed into her time in the kitchen; she realized that yoga is a practice on and off the mat which inspired her to complete a Holistic Health Coaching certification through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and launch her business, Emilie Maynor Living.
Most recently, Emilie completed a 300 Hour Elemental Yoga Therapy certification. This training is the last piece of the puzzle to help Emilie connect the dots between food, breath, and movement and inspire her clients to claim the grounded, rich lives we all truly crave.
Annie Damsky became a committed yoga practitioner in 2004. Yoga was the only cure to her case of the Sundays and the only physical exercise that felt worth sticking with on a regular basis.
In 2009, she achieved her 200 Hour certification through Birmingham Yoga. What resonated the most with Annie was the power of yoga to lay a foundation of steadiness and ease for individuals of all ages. Annie believes that through these individual foundations, our communities will grow stronger and more peaceful as we bring mindfulness and acceptance into our everyday lives.
In 2012 Annie opened Villager Yoga as a studio for the whole family, teaching classes for kids, families, expecting moms, and student of all abilities. She approaches each class she teaches like a short workshop, especially with the perspective she gains from her gurus of all ages. Annie relishes any opportunity to come together and share yoga as a community.
So what is Fearless Om?
The Fearless Om is a collaboration between Emilie Maynor and Annie Damsky rooted in mutual compassion and respect for one another and shared values of how to live this practice called yoga. Their desire is to offer authentic and approachable teachings that inspire self-study, acceptance, and community. They strive to provide ongoing experiences that will enable others to be centered and live fearlessly.
